The emphasis on this recruitment is to fill a new position in our Litigation Section; however, this recruitment process may also be used to fill vacancies that exist in any one of these sections. All attorneys in the Law Department may be reassigned based on the best interests of the City as determined by the City Attorney. This attorney will represent the City and City employees in liability cases, including civil rights, auto liability, premises liability, roadway design, traffic operations, and general negligence. Trial experience is a must for this position. Experience taking and defending depositions, preparing motions, arbitrating cases, and participating in settlement negotiations is also necessary. RECRUITMENT DATESRecruitment may close when we have received a sufficient number of qualified applications. First review of applications will occur the week of July 30th. SALARY$76,211- $132,392 annually. Appointment can be made above the minimum depending upon qualifications, however for new hires, this typically is not above the midpoint of the range. The appointment may be made at the Assistant City Attorney III ($76,211 – $120,078) or Assistant City Attorney IV ($84,011 – $132,392) level depending on qualifications and experience.
